Utengele is one of Tanzania’s most famous coffee farms, producing quality arabica coffees since 1919. Located in the Mbeya region of Tanzania’s Southern Highlands and tucked into the East African Rift Valley, the some 300 hectare Utengele Estate is situated at an elevation of 1400 meters.
The cool nights and warm days here along with the rich volcanic soil help coffee cherries ripen slowly. This creates a dense bean that is rich in natural sugars, creating sweetness and complexity in the cup.
Additionally our Utengele is a natural process coffee which uses a traditional sun-drying process. The ripe coffee cherries are picked at peak maturity and then dried whole on raised beds over the course of several weeks until reaching the ideal moisture content. The natural process is meticulous and produces especially vibrant, sweet, & aromatic coffees.
